“Asking you to give me EQUAL RIGHTS implies they are yours to give. Instead, I must demand that you stop trying to deny me the rights all people deserve.”

Thanks to Devan for making this chart! Allowing LISTEN to exist won’t harm anyone, whether they “agree” with the club’s aims or not. What will harm people is not providing a platform for students to come and discuss their differences.
There is nothing inherently political about providing safe spaces to all members of the Berry College community; however, using the college as an ideological prop to promote a religious and cultural agenda without the direct consent of the community is indubitably a result of the influence of outside politics on our college’s affairs. Indifference and apathy to the suffering and abuse of other’s merely for the sake of presenting a pristine quasi-Christian image is unjustifiable.
Via LISTENWhen I was in Boston this weekend I took my friend to Copley Square because it has, in my experience, two of the most beautiful churches in the country. Outside of Old South Church (a United Church of Christ church), there was this sign. Big. And it was amazing how great I felt to see Trans on there. I imagine it would be the same for someone who was homeless or a recovering addict or bisexual or something else that people often judge you for - or who had an identity that has made other religious communities abandon you or shame you. It also wasn’t just listed with things that are “problems” or difficult. It was listed with Male and Female, with Nerd and Cool Kid… I just think this sign is so powerful and I wanted to share it with everyone.
I like the idea of a church saying directly and publicly “Hey you’re trans (and this and this and that) and you’re ‘beloved.’”
Wow. This is the way every church should be.

This was an amazing day… And he said he loved my shirt (thank goodness I believe in truth in advertising!)
I want to wear that shirt one day!
